Direct Relief says it sent 190 medical-aid shipments and prepositioned hurricane supplies at Gulf Coast health facilities
In an October 9 operational update, Direct Relief said it sent 190 requested medical-aid shipments containing 6 million defined daily doses during the week ending October 9. The charity also reported that more than 70 Gulf Coast clinics and health centers had emergency supplies in place before Hurricane Isaias approached, with additional medicine and supply stockpiles positioned in the storm's projected path.

Donor relevance
Why this matters
Prepositioning medical supplies with community providers can preserve access to medicines and care when transportation, power and ordinary supply chains are disrupted. The weekly shipment volume also represents a substantial operational achievement.
