House Republicans ask IRS to investigate Middle East Children’s Alliance over alleged foreign-grant and terrorism-link concerns

Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee referred Middle East Children’s Alliance to the IRS and requested an investigation and possible revocation of its tax-exempt status. The committee alleged that the charity’s foreign-grant disclosures had become less specific and asserted links between the organization or its partners and people or groups associated with a designated terrorist organization. The referral does not establish that the IRS has opened an examination or that the allegations are true.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

An IRS examination or loss of exemption could materially affect the charity’s operations, deductibility of donations and ability to fund overseas programs.
