Orange County and Mind OC settle campus litigation without resolving fraud and mismanagement allegations

Orange County and Mind OC ended litigation over two Be Well OC behavioral-health campuses. Mind OC had alleged that the county violated its lease and carried out a hostile takeover. The county’s cross-complaint alleged lease violations and improper retention of millions of dollars. Neither side’s allegations were adjudicated. Under the settlement, the county will assume control of the Orange and Irvine campuses, Mind OC will transfer operational materials and subleases during an expected 90-day transition, and Mind OC may retain about $2.1 million that had been disputed.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The settlement removes Mind OC from management of two major facilities that were central to its public mission, resolves a dispute involving substantial public and charitable resources, and clears a path for the completed Irvine campus to open under county control.
