The Works reports its mobile grocer nearly doubled its reach to 4,302 people
InvestigateTV reported that The Works' 20-foot mobile grocery trailer brings produce, meat and dairy to about a dozen Memphis locations each week. According to the charity's impact report, the number of people served increased from 2,317 in 2024 to 4,302 in 2025. The reporting also found that Little Rock opened a similar mobile market after volunteers studied the Memphis model.
Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.
Donor relevance
Why this matters
The program showed substantial year-over-year growth, brings full grocery choices into neighborhoods without conventional stores and has produced a model another city has begun replicating.
Attribution
Who reported or established this
InvestigateTV reported the program's operations and cited The Works Impact Report for the annual service totals. CEO Roshun Austin described the local food-access problem, and customers discussed transportation barriers.
Evidence limits
What remains unverified
No Halo has not independently validated the customer counts, measured changes in nutrition or food security, or established how many shoppers were unique individuals rather than repeat customers.
Right of reply
Organization response
CEO Roshun Austin said sparse development and vacant properties make it difficult for some Memphis neighborhoods to attract grocery stores. Mobile-grocer staff also pointed to rising food prices as a source of need.
