Lincoln Memorial University agrees to religious-accommodation reforms after federal investigation

HHS and DOJ announced a voluntary settlement after investigators found that the university's medical school denied Jewish students religious accommodations while granting comparable requests by non-Jewish students. The university agreed to revise its absence policy, educate students and staff, and reverse penalties imposed on affected Jewish students during the 2025–2026 school year. Federal funding eligibility remains intact. The agencies said they will close the investigation only after the university completes its commitments.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The settlement requires substantive student-protection changes and reversal of academic penalties. Compliance remains unfinished even though the university retains federal funding eligibility.
