Louisa County Resource Council says completed solar project could free about $12,000 annually for services
WVIR reported that the Louisa County Resource Council completed a rooftop solar expansion on October 14 with a $135,000 contribution from Amazon. The council estimates that the completed system will reduce electricity costs by about $1,000 per month. Using the organization's own calculations, the projected annual savings would equal the cost of nearly 48,000 additional meals. The council currently reports serving about 1,900 families, or approximately 4,000 people, through food and other assistance.

Donor relevance
Why this matters
The project is a concrete operating-cost innovation for a food-assistance organization with substantial refrigeration needs. If the projected savings materialize, recurring utility expenses could be redirected to direct community services for years.
Attribution
Who reported or established this
WVIR reported the project's completion and Amazon's contribution. The projected utility savings, meal equivalence and client counts came from the Louisa County Resource Council.
Evidence limits
What remains unverified
No Halo has not confirmed actual post-installation electricity savings, system performance, maintenance costs or whether future savings will produce 48,000 additional meals. The meal figure is an equivalence calculated by the organization, not a documented increase in food distributed.
