Humane World for Animals endorses bipartisan bill to restrict federal funding for dog and cat experiments

Humane World for Animals and Humane World Action Fund endorsed the newly introduced Companion Animal Protection Against Cruel Testing Act. According to the organizations, the bipartisan House bill would bar the Department of Health and Human Services and its agencies from funding biomedical research using live dogs and cats and would give some animals leaving federally funded laboratories an opportunity for adoption.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The bill concerns a major policy objective for the charity and could materially change federally funded animal research if enacted. At present, however, it is proposed legislation rather than an achieved policy outcome.
