AARP Foundation said a court granted final approval to a $44.4 million class-action settlement with Symetra Life Insurance Company for nearly 5,000 current and former African Methodist Episcopal Church clergy and employees. The litigation alleged that approximately $90 million in retirement funds had been mismanaged over more than two decades. AARP Foundation said settlements with Symetra, the church and another service provider now total $106.4 million, while claims against remaining defendants continue.
