Radio IQ reports Roanoke Area Ministries opened a larger one-stop service center for unhoused people
Radio IQ reported that Roanoke Area Ministries moved its RAM House services into the new 12,000-square-foot Jain Care Center. The facility adds showers, laundry, a larger kitchen and clothing closet, and space where partner organizations can provide health care, treatment and employment assistance. The project cost was reported at $4.2 million.
Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.
Donor relevance
Why this matters
The expansion materially changes the public experience from basic meals, clothing and referrals at separate locations to multiple essential services under one roof. It also provides basic hygiene facilities that the former site lacked.
Attribution
Who reported or established this
Radio IQ reporter Mason Adams documented the facility and interviewed executive director Melissa Woodson about its services and intended operating model.
Evidence limits
What remains unverified
No Halo has not independently measured service capacity, daily use, beneficiary outcomes, partner availability or whether the remaining capital-campaign balance could affect operations.
Right of reply
Organization response
Woodson said the former location could not meet increasingly complex needs and that consolidating services would make it easier for unhoused people to move toward treatment and housing. The organization reported that its $5.2 million capital campaign still needed about $1 million.
