Partners in Nutrition agrees to $18.5 million settlement and dissolution over Minnesota attorney general’s false-claims allegations
On September 24, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed a civil lawsuit and consent judgment resolving claims against Partners in Nutrition. The state alleged that the nonprofit knowingly submitted claims for child-nutrition meals that were not served and facilitated fraud at sites it sponsored. The nonprofit agreed to pay $18,517,909.27, described as all funds remaining in its possession, provide additional records and permanently dissolve. A stayed $1 million civil penalty may be imposed for noncompliance. Investigations of associated individuals, site operators and vendors remain active.
Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.
Donor relevance
Why this matters
The resolution recovers the nonprofit’s remaining assets for return to the federal nutrition program, requires cooperation with continuing investigations and ends the organization’s operations. It is a major final outcome involving public funds intended to feed children.
