Minnesota attorney general settles alleged child-nutrition fraud claims against Partners in Nutrition for $18.5 million

The Minnesota Attorney General filed a civil False Claims Act complaint alleging that Partners in Nutrition knowingly submitted or facilitated false reimbursement claims for meals that were not served. A consent judgment requires the nonprofit to pay $18,517,909.27, provide additional records, cooperate with related investigations and permanently dissolve. The settlement resolves the state’s claims against the organization, not potential liability involving its officers, employees, vendors or sponsored sites.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The settlement recovers nearly all of the charity’s remaining assets for the government and ends the organization. It also leaves related investigations open, creating continuing accountability questions around people and entities affiliated with the nonprofit.
