Star House purchased a former church for a planned second youth drop-in center

WOSU reported that Star House purchased the vacant St. Ladislas Church property in south Columbus for a second drop-in center serving homeless and housing-insecure people ages 14 to 24. The planned 26,000-square-foot site would offer basic-needs support, healthcare, legal aid, clinical services and workforce programming. Star House reported raising $7.4 million toward a $10 million campaign, including a $1 million City of Columbus commitment.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

A second full-service location would materially increase Star House's capacity and geographic reach, but it also creates construction, fundraising and future operating-cost obligations.

Right of reply

Organization response

CEO Ann Bischoff said Star House had nearly doubled the number of young people served since 2021 and needed the new site to meet south-side demand and relieve pressure at its existing center.
