Federal complaint alleges Home At Last founder diverted millions from homeless-housing programs

Federal agents arrested Home At Last founder Michael Young after prosecutors filed a wire-fraud complaint alleging that he used sham vendors, forged documents and fraudulent invoices to divert more than $7.5 million in public housing funds. DOJ said the nonprofit received more than $118 million from public agencies and that LAHSA canceled its contracts in June 2026. The complaint alleges that diverted money supported personal expenses, commercial properties and an Inglewood restaurant and nightclub.
