Federal complaint alleges Home At Last founder diverted more than $7.5 million from homelessness programs
The U.S. Department of Justice charged founder Michael Young with wire fraud, alleging that he used shell companies, false invoices and sham vendors to divert more than $7.5 million in public money intended for homeless housing. Prosecutors said Home At Last received more than $118 million in public funds. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority canceled its contracts with the charity in June 2026. The charge remains an allegation, and Young is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
