Federal prosecutors allege Home At Last founder misappropriated more than $7.5 million intended for homeless housing
The U.S. Justice Department charged Home At Last founder Michael Young with wire fraud. According to the federal complaint, Young used sham vendors, false invoices and concealed self-dealing to divert more than $7.5 million in public homelessness funds to personal and unrelated business expenses. The Justice Department said public agencies had paid Home At Last more than $118 million and that the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority canceled its contracts with the charity in June 2026.
