Miracle-Ear Foundation settles federal allegations over Paycheck Protection Program eligibility

Miracle-Ear Foundation and its affiliated for-profit company agreed to pay a combined $6,473,222 to resolve federal False Claims Act allegations involving three Paycheck Protection Program loans. The government alleged that the foundation falsely certified its eligibility because it was affiliated with the much larger Amplifon corporate group. The foundation received a $58,100 PPP loan. The settlement resolves allegations only, and the defendants did not admit liability.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The settlement returns money to the government and concerns eligibility certifications made while the charity was affiliated with a multinational corporate group. It is material to donors assessing governance, compliance and related-party oversight.
