Domestic Violence Coalition leader warns funding deficit could force layoffs, severe service cuts or closure
Executive Director Melanie Hooker said reductions in Victims of Crime Act support and other grants left the Van Buren County organization with a $60,000 deficit for its coming fiscal year. She said the coalition must raise the money by the end of November to avoid losing staff or potentially closing and that operating with minimal staffing would mean fewer services for survivors.
