Housing Forward began an $18 million renovation after reporting strong housing-stability results
Housing Forward began converting a former hotel in Oak Park into a permanent site for interim housing and medical respite care. The planned Oak Inn will have 62 private rooms, including 22 accessible rooms, plus expanded clinical and case-management space. Housing Forward reported that the programs have served more than 853 people since 2020 and that 83 percent remained stably housed after leaving.

Donor relevance
Why this matters
The project makes a pandemic-era shelter and medical-respite model permanent, substantially improves accessibility and preserves private accommodations for people experiencing homelessness. The reported post-program housing-stability rate is a notable donor-relevant outcome.
