Feeding America survey reports sustained reliance on charitable food and nutrition programs
Feeding America's 2026 Elevating Voices survey of more than 1,200 people who had received charitable food assistance or experienced food insecurity during the prior two years found that six in ten respondents did not feel financially stable. Respondents described relying on food banks and government nutrition programs while sometimes delaying rent or medical bills or borrowing money to afford food.

Donor relevance
Why this matters
The survey provides a direct beneficiary-experience signal about financial instability, tradeoffs and continued dependence on food-assistance services. It also indicates that elevated demand may persist across Feeding America's national network.

What remains unverified
No Halo has not independently validated the survey methodology, response selection or weighting. The results should not automatically be treated as representative of every person experiencing hunger in the United States.
Right of reply
Organization response
Feeding America said the findings support preparing for sustained elevated demand and called for a stronger response involving both charitable food providers and government nutrition programs.
