Abundant Blessings executive agreed to plead guilty and admitted diverting public homelessness money

The Justice Department said executive director Alexander Soofer signed a plea agreement filed September 16 in which he admitted participating in a bribery scheme, obtaining some public money through fraud and taking at least $2 million for personal enrichment and unrelated businesses. Prosecutors said he received $23 million in public homelessness funding and agreed to plead guilty to wire fraud and money laundering and to forfeit illicit proceeds. A formal guilty plea was expected later.
