Former Catholic Foundation executive indicted on child-sex-related charges, according to WCMH

WCMH reported that a Franklin County grand jury indicted former Catholic Foundation senior vice president and chief development officer Scott Hartman on felony and misdemeanor charges involving alleged online sexual conduct with a teenage girl, including pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, pandering obscenity involving a minor, tampering with evidence and grooming. He was assigned a $750,000 bond. An indictment is an accusation, and the charges have not been proven at trial.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The accused person held a senior, donor-facing position at a foundation supporting schools, parishes and ministries. The case raises material questions about personnel safeguards, reporting channels and institutional risk, even though the alleged conduct has not been established as connected to the foundation's programs or beneficiaries.

Attribution

Who reported or established this

The criminal allegations were attributed by WCMH to the indictment and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office investigation. The foundation's employment and cooperation statements came from its chief executive.

Evidence limits

What remains unverified

No Halo has not established the truth of the criminal allegations, whether any alleged conduct involved a foundation beneficiary, donor or organizational system, whether others at the foundation had prior knowledge, or whether the matter reflects any broader employee pattern.

Right of reply

Organization response

The foundation said it terminated Hartman's employment, was cooperating fully with law enforcement and considered the victim and her family its first concern. Its October 2 statement described the reported conduct as a grave violation of trust. That statement preceded the indictment.
