Long Beach Post reports Helpful Housing faces city lawsuits and separate fraud allegations
An investigation published by the Long Beach Post and LAist reported that Long Beach has filed 15 lawsuits seeking control of apartment properties linked to Helpful Housing and its president, Rodney Rosenstein, over allegedly unpaid federally backed loans. The report separately described allegations from an attorney, a former employee and tenants involving falsified eligibility records, double billing, questionable repair charges and withheld deposits. Rosenstein also faces an unrelated federal indictment in Arizona alleging COVID-relief and commercial-loan fraud; he has pleaded not guilty.
