Transgender Education Network of Texas says it did not send texts that prompted an investigation request
The Transgender Education Network of Texas said disputed messages linking to its materials were sent without its authorization and did not represent its communications. The group sent cease-and-desist notices to two messaging companies, demanded that the campaign stop and sought the identity of the client behind it. The denial followed a Texas legislator's request that the attorney general investigate whether the group had violated state law.
Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.
Donor relevance
Why this matters
The new information materially weakens the initial assumption that the charity authored the messages. It also raises the possibility that an unknown party used the nonprofit's identity and materials in a campaign that damaged its reputation.
