Brandywine Valley SPCA reports taking 82 surrendered dogs after Dogtown Ranch’s founder was charged with animal cruelty

KWTX reported that Milam County authorities arrested Dogtown Ranch owner Angela Sera on October 6 on one misdemeanor count of cruelty to non-livestock animals. Dogtown Ranch agreed to surrender 82 dogs and close. Brandywine Valley SPCA said more than a dozen employees traveled to Texas to assess, shelter and transport the dogs, with animals moving to its facilities and partner shelters for care and eventual adoption. The charge is pending, and Sera is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The intake adds substantial medical, sheltering and placement work to an organization already expecting to care for more than 30,000 animals this year. Donors may want to monitor the cost, capacity effects and disposition of the surrendered dogs.
