Broome County Council of Churches plans a three-times-larger food-distribution warehouse
WIVT/WBGH reported that the Broome County Council of Churches purchased a former commercial facility in Conklin, New York, and expects to move there in spring 2027. The planned site will give its CHOW hunger-relief program a warehouse three times larger than its current space, four loading docks, additional coolers and freezers, and a commercial kitchen for the MANNA prepared-meal program. The organization's other offices and programs are also expected to relocate there.

Donor relevance
Why this matters
The larger warehouse, loading capacity and commercial kitchen could materially increase the efficiency and scale of food distribution and prepared-meal services. Consolidating programs may also make coordination easier, although the move and equipment installation are not complete.

Organization response
Sellepack said the organization expects to move after drive-in coolers and freezers are installed. He also said the seller substantially reduced the purchase price and that proceeds from selling the current building are expected to allow the nonprofit to pay off the new mortgage.
