Washington County Mental Health Services settles Vermont Medicaid billing and case-management allegations

Washington County Mental Health Services agreed to pay $60,661.50 in restitution and penalties to resolve Vermont Attorney General allegations involving services for one Medicaid beneficiary. The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud and Residential Abuse Unit said the nonprofit budgeted excessive case-management hours, billed Medicaid for substantially more service than the beneficiary received and provided inadequate case management. The settlement also requires audits of certain Family-Directed services.

Status matters. This page records a sourced development, not a completed No Halo investigation. An allegation is not a finding. Dismissals, settlements, judgments, corrections and final outcomes remain distinct.

Donor relevance

Why this matters

The matter concerns both public-fund billing and whether a vulnerable beneficiary received the services represented. The required audits are a meaningful corrective-control measure beyond the financial payment.
