Penobscot Community Health Care ends speech therapy and seeks transfers for other services while trying to avoid bankruptcy
The safety-net provider said speech therapy at the Warren Center has ended and will not restart. Audiology could be transferred or discontinued, and Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse could close November 30 if a proposed transfer to Kennebec Behavioral Health is not completed. PCHC also eliminated two overnight transitional-housing positions, froze raises and declined to fund 2025 discretionary retirement contributions. The organization previously said it needed $3 million to avoid major service cuts or bankruptcy.
